If you are working on a school project or you just want to satisfy your personal curiosity, Wikipedia is the place you should go to. It is one of the best sources of information, despite the fact that you can't be one hundred percent sure about its accuracy. Wikitool gives you the possibility of searching for Wikipedia articles without opening your web browser. Instead of typing Wikipedia's address or looking for its corresponding bookmarks, you can launch this lightweight application and search for an article immediately.

Wikitool is offered free of charge and it takes only a few clicks to have it up and running. Apart from a constant connection to the Internet, the application doesn't have any special requirements. It works on Windows XP and all later editions, without any significant impact on your computer's performance.

The application's user interface is similar to a web browser, but it doesn't come with an address bar. Its home page displays a search bar, as well as options for selecting different languages. All you have to do is type one or more keywords and click the Go button, located next to the search bar, or hit the Enter key. The application will take you directly to the corresponding article or to a list of recommended articles, if your keywords are too vague.

You can return to the home page at any time, by clicking the appropriate option on the application's toolbar. It is also possible to navigate through web pages back and forward, like on a web browser, to search for random articles and to print the current page. Another useful feature is the possibility of saving the page on the hard drive, in HTML, TXT, XPS or other formats.

Pros

Wikitool is lightweight and it works fast. You can find Wikipedia articles almost instantly. Additionally, the application allows you to print and save web pages.

Cons

The possibility of visiting several Wikipedia pages, on separate tabs, would be more than welcome. Wikitool gives you free and unrestricted access to the entire Wikipedia database, from the comfort of your desktop.
